The distinction is structural: a yell is a volume choice, from the throat, that can be turned on and off. A primal scream is involuntary — it cannot be theatrical, and it arrives when defenses finally drop and unprocessed truth shows up in the room without a translator.
Explanation
The correction matters because [The Yell] framed 44 years of silence as a choice to eventually speak louder — as if the operator had been modulating volume the whole time and simply turned it up. That’s wrong, and Jeffrey named why: it wasn’t speaking-at-conversation-volume while waiting to get louder, it was the slow compression of a scream the organism was holding in.
