The Work

What Paired Engagement Is

Paired engagement is not consulting in the traditional sense. It is not coaching in the way most operators have experienced coaching. It is not a program, a curriculum, a course sequence, or a package.

Paired engagement is a working relationship between the operator and someone who has run the operator’s read at scale — and who is now standing next to the operator, in the operator’s specific operation, doing the work that closes the gap between what the operation is producing and what it is capable of producing.

The word paired is doing structural work. It means the operator is not sent home with a workbook. It means the consultant is not delivering a deck and disappearing. It means the two of us are inside the same problem, on the same cadence, running the same framework, until the problem is what it should be instead of what it currently is.

Paired engagement is what happens after the read. It is the design work that follows the diagnosis. Every paired engagement is scoped to the specific operator, in the specific operation, addressing the specific gap the read surfaced — and priced at the value of the work, not the hours it takes to do it.

Two modes. Same framework. Different delivery.

Coaching And Consulting

Coaching (BizWorx™) — remote, ongoing, weekly cadence. The operator does the work. I provide the framework, the direction, and the read that keeps the work honest. The development is yours, which means it stays with you long after the engagement ends. Every 28-day period covers what the operation needs next, in the order that produces the most leverage.

Consulting (GrowthWorx™) — onsite, project-based. I work alongside you. When the expertise is not there yet, when the bandwidth is not there right now, when the work needs to get done while the capacity is still being built. The engagement is scoped to the specific work, priced at the value of the work, and delivered until the work is done.

Most operators enter through one and use the other when the situation requires it. Some engagements live in both simultaneously. The read tells us which door to walk through first.

For engagements that require a broader scope than a single lane, Concierge Offerings combine coaching, consulting, and specialized expertise under one relationship.

The Contract

The paired engagement runs on one contract. Simple, clear, and locked before the work begins.

I work as long as you pay for the value of the work.

Not for the time. Not for the hours. Not for a package or a program or a promised deliverable measured against a calendar. The engagement runs as long as the work is producing value the operator is willing to pay for. That is the whole contract.

If you want to stop paired work, exit through Fractional or walk away.

The engagement is not a subscription trap. When the operator decides the paired work is no longer the right shape, the engagement ends. Two exit paths are available if the operation still needs support in a different form.

No refunds. Ever.

The fee purchases the work. The work is delivered. Whether the operator applies what the work produced is a decision I do not control and will not price against. If you are looking for a consultant who guarantees the outcome, that consultant is guaranteeing something no consultant can honestly promise. I do not sell that.

I guarantee my effort. Not the outcome. Not the operator’s work.

I show up. I do the work at the standard the framework requires. I hold you to the standard the framework requires of you. What the operation produces from that is a function of what the operator does with it, which is not something I can guarantee and would be lying to you if I did.

That contract lives at The 100% Effective Guarantee and applies to every paired engagement I run.

The Three Exits

Every paired engagement has three ways out. The operator picks the one that fits when the paired work has reached the shape the operation next requires.

Exit 1: Continue. The paired engagement is producing value the operator is willing to pay for. The work continues on the cadence it is running.

Exit 2: Move to Fractional Ops Leadership. The operation no longer needs coaching or consulting. It needs sustained operating capacity — someone who owns a piece of the operation on a defined basis rather than developing the operator to own it. Different work. Same framework. Different contract structure. Available when the operation is ready for it.

Exit 3: Walk away. The operator is done. The paired work has produced what it was going to produce. The relationship closes. The framework the operator has built stays with the operator. Whatever they decide to do with it from there is theirs.

Every exit is honest. No exit locks the operator into the next engagement. The framework does not work on retention. It works on results.

How The Work Starts

Every paired engagement starts with a read. If you have not run one yet, start here.

If you have already run the read and you know which paired mode fits, book a call and we will scope the engagement.

If you are not sure which mode fits, that is exactly what the call is for.

The work does not start until the operator and I both agree on what the work is. Once we agree, the work starts.
