Definition
Verb-first reframe of upsell behavior. Cast leads the [Guest Experience] rather than pushing additional items at the Guest. Operator-side replacement for the entire suggestive-selling vocabulary — no instance of “suggestive selling” should remain anywhere in the manuscript.
Explanation
The old vocabulary framed the moment as a transaction the cast member initiates against the Guest: sell them something else, add to the check, hit the upsell target. [Leading The Guest Experience] reframes the same moment as a role the cast member is already occupying — they are leading the Guest through the meal, and a well-timed suggestion is part of that leadership, not an interruption of it. The suggestion still happens. What changes is the posture behind it: does it come from wanting to run up a check, or from actually shepherding the Guest toward a better night.
This pairs with [Role As Verb] and [The Accountability Demand] for a reason — leading the GX is one more instance of a role being a live verb that runs toward the Guest, not a static job description. An operator training cast on this term should watch for the tell: cast who ask “what would make this better for them” are leading the GX; cast who ask “what can I get them to add” are still running the old suggestive-selling play with new words on top of it.
