Definition
The Lead who runs the bar program in concert with the operator, second in authority only to the operator inside that domain. One of the Lead titles that replaces “manager” language across the building — no front of house manager, no kitchen manager, no bar manager. Scales in with full-service and multi-unit operations as the beverage program grows.
Explanation
The operator leads Leads. The operator owns the Guest’s travel path end to end; the Leads run the processes underneath that path so the operator can complete it. Not alone, not stationed at one post — in concert, each Lead holding their domain while the operator holds the whole.
[The Bar Lead] exists because a real beverage program is its own domain of expertise and accountability, distinct from what the Front Lead or Back Lead carries. Counter-service operations run without one — Front Lead and Back Lead cover it. Full-service independents add [The Bar Lead] as the program grows past what the Front Lead can hold alongside everything else. The title change isn’t cosmetic — “manager” is reserved for the derogatory sense in this book’s lexicon, so every real leadership role on the stage needs a name that isn’t that word.
