Explanation

Operators are trained to watch the Guest and the cast — the two sight targets everyone names without being told to. [The Orbit] names the third target that gets missed by default: everyone circling the business who isn’t a Guest and isn’t cast, but whose read on the operation still shapes what’s possible. A landlord who thinks the operation is struggling renegotiates differently than one who sees it thriving. A vendor who trusts the operator extends terms; one who doesn’t tightens them.

The reason [The Orbit] needs its own name is that these relationships get managed reactively by default — a call returned when the landlord calls, a rep handled when the vendor shows up — instead of read deliberately the way the Guest and cast are read. Naming the constituency as a group is the first step toward giving it the same designed attention the other two get.
