The individual read the operator runs on a specific domain of the operation — the stage read, the kitchen read, the cast read, the numbers read, the period read, the admin read. Distinct from [The Read] (aggregate discipline) — [The Reading] is one instance of reading that feeds the aggregate.

Explanation

Every [Reading] is one input to [The Read]. The reading is the practice; the read is the discipline that holds all the readings together.

The reading fails in two ways: the reading never runs — the operator does not read that domain, so the signal from that domain does not reach the aggregate, and decisions get made on incomplete input; or the reading runs but stays isolated — the operator reads the domain, sees what’s there, but never feeds it into the aggregate, and the reading becomes a diagnostic in a silo.

Both failures produce the same downstream result: the operator running the operation off a partial read. Different failure modes, same output.
