The Cast Trainer is not the most experienced person on the floor. They are the person who can transmit the standard.
Those are not the same thing. The cast member who has run the same station for three years knows the work — but knowing the work and being able to teach it are different verbs. The Cast Trainer has been developed through the Training Ladder to hold the standard in one hand and the new cast member in the other, and close the gap between them. They are not improvising. They are transmitting a designed standard to a specific person in real time.
The Cast Trainer is the operation's first multiplier. The operator cannot personally onboard every hire. The Cast Trainer does it instead — which means the operation's standard either holds or fractures at the Cast Trainer level. A Cast Trainer who was never formally developed for the role transmits what they personally believe the standard is. That is not the standard. That is their interpretation of it. Over time, an operation with undeveloped Cast Trainers drifts from its own design without anyone deciding to drift.
The Cast Trainer does not get the role because they are good at their job. They get the role because they passed the [Train-The-Trainer Gate] — the formal checkpoint that confirms they can transmit the standard, not just perform it.
